Welcome to our first newsletter!

In an effort to keep concerned citizens informed about activities of the NO FLAMINGO HIGHRISE Assoc. and its effort to stop or curtail the development of a 12-storey residential building beside the Chabad Flamingo Synagogue, the NO FLAMINGO HIGHRISE News was born.

We hope to produce this newsletter at least monthly to keep you updated as to what is happening in the City of Vaughan planning process and what you can do to help our campaign to stop the building from being built or at least reduce the size of the development.

If you have any comments on the newsletter, please email us.

Public Hearing: CANCELLED

The City of Vaughan Public Hearing scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th has been cancelled with no indication of when it will be rescheduled.

The public hearing is the community’s opportunity to advocate against the rezoning of the Chabad Flamingo parking lot to allow for the construction of a 12-storey residential building. There are strength in numbers! When the meeting is rescheduled we will inform you as to the process of making a deputation, in person or in writing, so you are on the record as against the application made by the synagogue.

Lawn signs are coming!

A series of four lawn signs are being produced that residents can display on their lawns to indicate their opposition to the proposed apartment building. The signs should be available the week of May 25th. If you are willing to have a sign on your lawn please fill in the form below.

YES, I want a lawn sign!

Petition response

Thanks to the many neighbours who signed and shared the petition link, over 700 people have signed our petition. While our initial goal was to get 250 signatures so we could present it to City Council, we want to increase this number into the thousands.

If you have not yet signed the petition or shared it with your friends and family, please sign the petition and share. If you are asked for a donation after signing, please note that these donations are for change.org and NOT for our association. The ability to donate to our efforts will be coming soon.
